Lavender Varieties
The lavender varieties below are currently grown at Dry Creek Lavender Farm.
  1. BUENA VISTA
    BUENA VISTA
    Buena Vista lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a small English lavender that grows up to 24 inches tall and has grey/green leaves. Though it comes from the Mediterranean region, it is considered an English lavender. Uses include oil, culinary, potpourris, and sachets.
  2. FOLGATE
    FOLGATE
    Folgate lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a hardy lavender that grows up to 30 inches tall and 36 inches wide with narrow grey/green leaves in a variety of colors from blue-purple to pinkish white. This plant is native to the Mediterranean but is called an English lavender. Uses include drying and in potpourris.
  3. GROSSO
    GROSSO
    Grosso lavender (Lavandin (L. angustifolia x L. latifolia) grows in a 2-4 foot mound producing large flowers on long stems. This highly fragrant French cultivar has many uses including cut flowers, sachets, and potpourris.
  4. MELISSA LILAC
    MELISSA LILAC
    Melissa Lilac lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) grows up to 24 inches tall and 30 inches wide. It’s flower is a pale lilac color. It is an English lavender variety though it comes from the Mediterranean. It’s stunning fragrance makes it an excellent choice for drying for potpourri.
  5. ROYAL VELVET
    ROYAL VELVET
    Royal Velvet lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) is a small lavender plant growing 2 x 2 feet with a dark purple color. It is an English lavender variety though it comes from the Mediterranean. Uses include culinary, dried flowers, and sachets.
  6. HIDCOTE GIANT
    HIDCOTE GIANT
    Hidcote Giant lavender (Lavandula x intermedia) grows up to 30 inches tall and 42 inches wide on a mound of silvery foliage. It’s long stems contain bright violet flower spikes making it an excellent choice for cut flowers.
  7. GROS BLEU
    GROS BLEU
    Gros Bleu (Lavandula Intermedia Gros Bleu) is a hybrid french lavender. With a longer, pointed flower head, this variety is an excellent choice for bouquets. This variety produces a dark purple bloom twice during the season.
